Reseña/Review

Una vez más Alemania, lleno de buenos sellos y buenas bandas. Es el turno de Arilyn, novel cuarteto teutón que nos presenta su debut con muy buenos resultados.

El disco abre con urgencia con un par de tracks rockeros, pero la verdad son solo «teasers» de lo que está por venir. No, no es una banda más en la ya de por si sobresaturada escena de progresivo metálico.

Estamos ante una banda que no teme cruzar de géneros de canción a canción, aunque lo que mejor les sienta es el progresivo de impacto, agresivo sin llegar a adentrarse al metal. Tomen por ejemplo la canción Rescue Me con unos versos capaces de enviar escalofríos por toda la espina dorsal. Lo mejor y con creces de esta banda, es su vocalista Christian Kulbs con un timbre de voz grave, profundo que puede alcanzar agudos sin ningún problema.

Si tan siquiera crearan canciones un poco más largas, solo para explotar su capacidad instrumental, este disco llegaría a una audiencia más amplia de proggers, o quizás es justo lo que no quieren. Quien sabe? Por lo pronto…»won’t you rescuuueeee mmeeeee…..!!!»

Germany, again, full of good labels and bands. Now it’s Arilyn’s turn, a new quartet that brings us their debut album with very good results.

The album opens urgently with a pair of rock tracks but, to tell the truth, they’re only teasers of what is about to come. …And no, it’s not another band on the oversaturated progmetal scene.

We’re before a band that doesn’t fear to cross genres from one song to another, but they sound better with impact, agressive-but-not-metal progressive tracks. «Rescue Me» with verses capable of shake your nerves and backbone. The very best of this band is their vocalist, Christian Kulbs, with his baritone, deep voice who can also handle high tones without any trouble.

If only they could get into more long-lasting tracks, just to exploit their instrumental abilities, this album could get to a wider proggers audience, maybe it’s just what they don’t want… Who knows?, in the meanwhile… «Won’t you rescueeee mmmeeee….!!!».
