Reseña/Review

Banda holandesa de Alkmaar, que nos trae lo que ahora ya se cataloga como emo-rock: música con bastante ímpetu, nacida en el post-punk más duro con el toque de sensibilidad emocional que le da el nombre…

Con un buen sonido y una interpretación que realiza correctamente su trabajo, A Day´s Work entrega sus 4 tracks (y un buen de material adicional desde la porción de CD-ROM).

Tanto «Here I Am» como «From Where I Stand» amalgaman la línea dura de guitarras estridentes y distorsionadas con pasajes más melódicos, acompañados por un una sección rítmica que hace su trabajo y con un buen desempeño de la voz de Paul (a lo largo de todo el disco).

«Who Will Save Us» es, el track «suave» que bien podría ser el single que pasase por MTV, muy al estilo de Creed, quizá más auténtico.

Creo que estando en Holanda, la banda –que suena bien- puede dejar de parecerse a sus contrapartes americanas y trabajar quizá un poco más sobre sonidos más fuera de lo común como podría suceder con «Around My Head», de cuya evolución es lo que yo estaría esperando más material.

Si te gusta el emo, esta es una buena alternativa a bandas americanas. Dale una buena oportunidad.

Ok. We read the note on the band’s site about a problem reading in spanish so there it goes… our english version for this review:

Holland (Netherlands) based band from Alkmaar, which brings us what now is called emo-rock: music with strong impetus, born from hardcore post-punk, added with touches of emotional sensitivity…

With a good sound and a correctly worked out performance, A Day’s Work brings their four tracks (and a bunch of additional material from the CD-ROM area of the CD)

«Here I Am» and «From Where I Stand» amalgamate the hard line of saturated and strident (in sounding terms) guitars, with more melodic passages, accompannied by a rythm section who mades their job and a good performance on Paul’s voice (along the whole ep).

«Who Will Save Us» is the «soft track» that could easily be aired at MTV… in the line of Creed… maybe more authentic.

Being in The Netherlands, the band -which sounds good- could began to work in order to not sound like its american counterparts and make stuff more on original and less-common sounds, like they do in «Around My Head»… evolutions from this sound is what I would expect.

Wheter you like emo or not, this is a good alternative to the sound of mainstream american bands, and a chance to check it (emo-rock). Give it a chance…
